About LAUTECH ICT Centre

In November 2005, the Vice Chancellor, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Professor B.B. Adeleke constituted a committee to bring up proposal(s) on the applications of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in the day–to–day activities of the Institution.
This LAUTECH implementation committee, after series of meetings and deliberations (between November 2006 and February 2006) came up with ICT policies and strategic plans to drive into accomplishment the vision of LAUTECH ICT which is pivoted by the mission that is:
Committed to promoting excellence in teaching, learning and research by providing staff and students with ICT facilities, services and support for the achievement of their socio-cultural, academic and administrative objectives.
Based on the committee's recommendation, a three-phase ICT project has been planned for LAUTECH. The first phase commenced in September 2006 with the convergence of the Computer centre and other related facilities being subsumed under the newly established Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre, leading to the appointment of a director and ICT steering team for the development, deployment and maintenance of LAUTECH ICT facilities and initiatives for teaching, learning and research. By extension, application and adoption of ICT and its allied technologies for rural development is also a vision of LAUTECH ICT project.
